What Are You Working On?

One simple question. Infinite complex answers.
“What Are You Working On?” uncovers the works in progress
happening around the world as athletes navigate journeys
in and beyond their sport.

Foundations
Lebron James
From the moment LeBron James was put under the spotlight, he has worn his hometown of Akron, Ohio on his sleeve. And no matter where his storied career has taken him since those early days at St. Vincent St. Mary’s High School, he never strayed far from his roots. Now, 20 years in, LeBron is still working relentlessly to provide a path for the next generation coming out of that same community.

Preservation
Nyjah Huston
If you expected Nyjah Huston to be inactive after suffering the first major injury of his career, a torn ACL that has forced him off the board for months, then you don’t know Nyjah. It took no less than a week after surgery for the superstar skateboarder to begin the work on getting back to doing what he loves — an arduous process made up of physical therapy sessions and strenuous workouts. This time off the board has asked Nyjah to practice patience while developing new routines and daily habits, but more than anything it’s forced the 27-year-old to consider the legacy he is leaving behind in a sport he has sacrificed literal blood, sweat, and tears for.

Staying In Love
Craig Engel
Love isn't easy. It's complicated. It takes practice... And sometimes, we must fall out of love to learn how to sustain it. Long-distance runner Craig Engels' relationship with his profession is no different. After a series of disappointing setbacks, Engels has gone on to find himself through the very sport he once contemplated leaving behind. But this time around, he’s doing things differently. He’s doing it his way. Being a professional runner means pouring into his community and all the aspects that bring him joy.

Manifesting
Jewel Loyd
After years of playing overseas in the offseason, two-time WNBA champion and former Rookie of the Year Jewell Loyd has come home. The city is Lincolnwood, Illinois, an inner suburb of Chicago where Jewell has spent the past two offseasons reconnecting with her community and working on refining and mastering her craft in the game of basketball.

In this episode of “What Are You Working On?” we spend time with Jewell back home, capturing her unique approach to developing her game through visualization, and the people off the court that drive her.

Footprints
Eliud Kipchoge
“We are no longer in control of what has passed, but we can control where we are now and where we are headed to.” Two days after winning the Tokyo Marathon with a course-record time of 2:02:40, marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge returns to his home in Kaptagat, Kenya. It’s a place where Eliud is focused on making impact as an environmentalist and conservationist, using his foundation to grow 50,000 trees in the immediate locale, in order to leave behind a healthier world for his family and future generations.

Eliud Kipchoge is working on making sure the world that he leaves behind him is healthier than the one he knew. Never Done adapting.

Reloading, Roots
Sisterhood

Aja Wilson
Season 2 - three episode arc

Ep1 - After an incredible run of success last season, WNBA superstar and recent champion A'ja Wilson used the offseason to rest, recharge and reconnect. We caught up with her to see how the reigning queen spends her time before the 2023 season kicks off. Turns out, A'ja proves that rest and success go hand in hand.

Ep2 - For WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson, staying at the top of her game is about more than just training hard. It's about staying connected to the community that has always been there for her. As the offseason comes to a close, Wilson makes a crucial pit stop in her hometown to reconnect with her roots. She seeks out the people who have been her driving force throughout her basketball career, the ones who have always believed in her and helped her stay focused on her goals. For A'ja, staying grounded in her community is just as vital as staying at the top of her game.

Ep3 -  For A'ja Wilson, connecting with her fellow WNBA players is just as important as her training regimen. As the offseason closes out, Wilson sets aside time to bond with her peers who understand the unique pressures of their sport. Sisterhood and solidarity are crucial elements that allow her to perform at her best, providing her with the support and understanding she needs to face the challenges of her career with confidence and strength. For her, cultivating strong relationships with her peers is a critical aspect of achieving her goals both on and off the court.

Ep1, Ep2, Ep3

Ep2 - Portuguese footballer Jéssica Silva is in the midst of the best season of her career, helping Portugal secure their first-ever Women’s World Championship bid when an unexpected and tragic personal loss changes everything. The loss forces Silva to take necessary time away from the sport and instead spend it with who she does it all for: her family.
